To allow GameTracker.com to scan your TeamSpeak server, grant the following three permissions to the Guest server group: b_virtualserver_info_view, b_virtualserver_channel_list, and b_virtualserver_client_list. Navigate to Virtual Server -> Information in the permissions editor to enable them. ASPnix does not need to whitelist their IP addresses as they are already whitelisted.

GameTracker pulls real-time server data to create public listings that display your server name, connected clients, channel layout, and other details. These read-only permissions are the minimum required for their scanner to function. Without them the server remains invisible to users browsing GameTracker, limiting community growth. The changes are safe, targeted, and take effect immediately after editing the Guest group.

#Prerequisites

  • Administrative access to the TeamSpeak 3 server
  • TeamSpeak 3 client connected with Server Admin privileges
  • Access to the server permissions editor

#Step-by-Step Instructions

Launch the TeamSpeak 3 client and connect to your server using an account with full administrative rights. Right-click the server name in the client and choose the appropriate permissions or server group management option. Locate and select the default Guest server group, which applies to all unregistered connections.

In the permission tree navigate to Virtual Server -> Information. Set each of the three required permissions to a value of 1 to grant them. These permissions map directly to the ServerQuery commands that GameTracker uses to retrieve server status without allowing any modification.

  • b_virtualserver_info_view (ServerQuery: View Virtual Server Info)
  • b_virtualserver_channel_list (ServerQuery: View List of existing Channels)
  • b_virtualserver_client_list (ServerQuery: View List of Clients online)

Save the permission changes. They apply instantly. Test by using a non-admin client or by submitting the server address to GameTracker for verification.

#Permission Details

b_virtualserver_info_view exposes server metadata such as name, version, uptime, and slot count. b_virtualserver_channel_list returns the full channel hierarchy with names and settings. b_virtualserver_client_list reports currently connected users, their nicknames, and channel locations. All three are strictly read-only and are the exact subset needed by listing services. Avoid granting broader rights to the Guest group to maintain server security.

#Troubleshooting

  • Permissions do not appear to apply: reconnect the client or restart the TeamSpeak server process to clear cached values.
  • GameTracker reports access denied: confirm the three permissions are set on the Guest group and have not been overridden by another group or channel permission.
  • Server remains unlisted after changes: wait for GameTracker's next scan cycle and verify the server is reachable on its public IP and port.

Please note that ASPnix does not need to whitelist their IP addresses as they are already whitelisted.

After these permissions are active, submit your TeamSpeak server details on GameTracker.com using the standard add-server form. Monitor the listing for accurate client and channel data. Review server group permissions quarterly to ensure only necessary rights remain granted to Guest while supporting useful external services.
